This is the 4th year we have run the camp for the blind to memorise the Quran in Gaza together with Dar Alquraan AL Kriam. Last week the students were taken for a trip to a water park, which they enjoyed very much. We started the camp with 18 students in 2012, and alhamdulillah this year 61 blind students applied to join the camp.
Associate Prof Mohammad from UTM Engineering dept showing our staff Firdaus and Rafi how the Al-Quran eBraille machine works. He has been working on this project since 2009 on a grant from the government. The eBraille machine is suitable for classroom learning as the teacher can control the information going to the students machines.
This morning Alfitrah Foundation was invited to Tabung Haji at a ceremony to recognize Corporate Sponsors for the Haj season 2015. Inshaa Allah we will be giving braille Guides to Haj to blind pilgrims to prepare them for their journey .
Alhamdulillah , we have now available a braille book of selected surahs, produced in half A4 size so that it can be carried easily around to the masjid and for travelling. Please contact us if you would like one.

At a summer camp for the deaf in Gaza to learn the Quran.
Braille Quran Initiative has worked with Dar Al Quran in Gaza to run a camp for the blind every year, and alhamdulillah this year we have 61 students , a vast increase from the 12 students we started with at the first camp 4 years ago. We will post photos from the blind children's camp later, inshaa Allah.
